In 1987, after starting 0-1-1, the Lynx won four games in a row before tying Austin 20-20. The team finished the year with three straight wins which carried over into the 1988 season. Decker's team opened his senior season with seven straight wins. The Lynx hadn't lost a game in any of their last 15 contests.
