Recruited out of Westminster School in Atlanta, where he was a three-sport star for the Wildcats, Dick Lindeman was a three-year starter for the Lynx at free safety. Dick was an outstanding player who had an uncanny ability to read offenses and quarterback tendencies, so he often made tackles near the line of scrimmage, while also being able to cover receivers on deep routes. Dick was also an excellent punter whose kicks had great hang time with little or no opportunity for a return. Dick was selected All College Athletic Conference (CAC) in 1982 and 1983.

Dick also played two years of baseball for the Lynx and one year of basketball.

While living with the challenges of having multiple sclerosis the past twenty-five years, Dick has been inspiration to his family, friends and countless others, for his faith in God, zest for life and love of people. He epitomizes the words of the prophet Joshua, who said “be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” In recent years, Dick has spoken to numerous high school groups about how multiple sclerosis has enriched his relationship with God and inspired him to encourage others as they’ve faced challenges in their lives.

Great leaders influence their fellow man by their character, humility, and by how they live their lives. Dick Lindeman is a great leader, husband, father, teammate and friend. We are thankful for Dick’s inspiration and admire his abilities and accomplishments as a human being and athlete. Rhodes is honored to induct RICHARD HENRY LINDEMAN into the Rhodes Athletic Hall of Fame this 10th day of October, 2014.
