When Jim Fink arrived at Southwestern his teammates quickly came to love and admire their new teammate with the slow-talking, easy-going Arkansas accent. It didn’t take long for Jim to establish himself as an outstanding football and record-setting baseball player for the Lynx.

Jim Fink may have been easygoing, but he could consistently throw a fastball over 90 miles per hour. Jim was selected to the All College Athletic Conference baseball team in 1977, 1978 and 1979. In 1977 he led the NCAA Division III in strikeouts per nine innings. Jim was voted the Most Valuable Baseball Player in 1978 when he led Division III in wins and winning percentage with a 7-0 record.

Jim also excelled on the gridiron for the Lynx. He was highly respected by his teammates for his work ethic, sacrifice and ability as evidenced by being selected the 1976 Most Valuable Football Player, almost unheard of for an offensive tackle. He was a member of the Lynx team that compiled a 9-1-1 record in 1977. Jim was named to the All College Athletic Conference team in 1978 as an offensive lineman.

Jim Fink has always represented leadership, hard work, excellence and devotion to his family, teammates and coaches. For the character he displayed, both as a student-athlete, husband and father, Rhodes is honored to induct JAMES HAROLD FINK in the Rhodes Athletic Hall of Fame this 7th day of October, 2005.
