Rhodes Athletic Hall of Fame
Josh Cockerham was a four-year starter and two-time captain for Lynx Hall of Fame Coach Herb Hilgeman. He is also a member of the Lynx 1,000-point club; his 1,292 career points place him in the top 10 in total points in Lynx Men’s Basketball history.
Josh was arguably the most prolific three-point shooter in Lynx history, as he holds the school record with a total of 235 made three-point field goals.
A three-time All-SCAC selection, he led the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in three-point field goals made for two consecutive seasons. In 1997-98 he made 75, and in 1998-99 he connected for 73. He is currently 9th in SCAC history in career three-point field goals.
Also known as a tremendous defender, he led the Lynx in steals in the 1997-98 season, while the Lynx led the nation that year in field goal shooting percentage defense at .372, a mark that still stands as the second-best in SCAC history.
Former Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Dean said, “In my 34 years at Rhodes, Josh may have been the best three-point shooter during that time. In addition to being a great shooter, Josh was also tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best guard every game, a role he relished. It was a pleasure to coach Josh, and he’s one of the Lynx all-time greats.”
In recognition of his accomplishments as a Men’s Basketball player, Rhodes is honored to induct Josh Cockerham into the Rhodes Athletic Hall of Fame this 25th day of October, 2025.
