Rhodes Athletic Hall of Fame
Whether it was eluding a hard-hitting linebacker or gliding over an intermediate hurdle, Donald Duggan has been coming up with big plays and winning races all his life. A product of Avondale High School in Decatur, Georgia, Donald arrived at Rhodes as an outstanding student and athlete.
Donald had an illustrious football career marked by his versatility and speed. As a freshman he saw significant playing time at running back, then as a junior, started at wide receiver. When the Lynx installed the Wing-T offense in 1985, Donald returned to running back. During his senior year, the Lynx posted an 8-1-1 record and Rhodes was the College Athletic Conference Co-Champion, finishing in the top 20 in the final NCAA Division III poll.
Donald was named All College Athletic Conference his senior year.
In track and field Donald was a phenomenal athlete who set school records in the 400 intermediate hurdles and the triple jump, events for which he won CAC titles. He was also a member of the conference-winning 400 and 1600 meter relay teams.
Donald now serves as the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Bank of the West in San Francisco. He has been an active supporter of Rhodes since his graduation. In 2007, the Black Student Association recognized Donald with its Distinguished Alumni Award. For the thrills he brought to fans at Fargason Field and in recognition of his academic and professional achievements, Rhodes is honored to induct DONALD DUGGAN into the Rhodes Athletic Hall of Fame this 29th day of October, 2010.
