Women Fall to Division II Arkansas Tech

The girls in battle
It was a tough afternoon for the lady Lynx on March 22nd. They faced a tough Division II opponent in Arkansas Tech.

At #1 and #2 doubles we were clearly overpowered. The serves of the opponents had more power and spin then we were used to and the speed of the game was very quick. Matches like this will surely help our confidence when it's time to play conference opponents.

The Lynx duo of freshman Elyse Smith and a debut from freshman Courtney Hornsby proved to be a lethal combination. They jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the doubles. After a few unlucky points and just flat out great shot making from their opponents the freshman pair found themselves in an 8-7 deficit. They fought hard but fell a few points short of the victory, losing 9-7. This was a great experience for the young Rhodes team.

In singles the D-II opponents proved to be a bit more powerful and consistent. Everyone battled as hard as they could but fell short against a very tough team.
