Women's Tennis Splits Final Regular Season Weekend

Match Recap vs University of Mary Washington

The Rhodes College women's tennis team fell 7–0 to University of Mary Washington Saturday morning.

Mary Washington took control early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. The Eagles earned competitive wins at Nos. 1 and 2 before closing out the doubles sweep at No. 3.

In singles play, Mary Washington continued its strong form, winning all six matches in straight sets to complete the shutout. Agda Laakso and Lilly Higgins led the lineup at the top spots, while Claudia Ribeiro, Taylor Nash, Violet Taub, and Grace May rounded out the Lynx lineup.


Match Recap vs Piedmont University

The Rhodes College women's tennis team bounced back with a dominant 6–1 win over Piedmont University Saturday afternoon.

Rhodes set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the opening point. Agda Laakso and Lilly Higgins led with a 6-2 win at No. 1, while Gracie Rask and Taylor Nash followed with a 6-1 victory at No. 2. Claudia Ribeiro and Violet Taub completed the sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 3.

The Lynx carried that momentum into singles, winning five of six matches in convincing fashion.

Laakso dominated at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win, and Higgins followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Ribeiro added a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3, while Nash controlled her match at No. 4, 6-0, 6-4.

Grace May rounded out the scoring for Rhodes with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.

Piedmont picked up its lone point at No. 5 singles.

With the win, Rhodes responded well and closed out the day on a strong note entering the SAA Championships.
