Rhodes College Athletics

Bobby says: Caroline is a great leader both on and off the field. Her work ethic is unequalled. Despite not being the tallest person on the field she dominates in the air and has a nose for the goal. She will be the backbone of our midfield and will provide a scoring punch for us this year. Caroline is highly motivated to lead this team to its first NCAA tournament.

2006: Named 1st Team All-SCAC… Fall 2006 SCAC Academic Honor Roll… header goal, assisted by Melanie Sharry, against Hendrix voted 2006 Goal of the Year… led the team in scoring with 10 goals and 4 assists for 24 points…3rd in the SCAC in scoring… 8 of her 10 goals were scored in SCAC contests… started 19 of 19 games… named SCAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year for Week 10… scored a goal in the 7-0 shutout of Oglethorpe in the final game of the season… scored both goals in 2-0 shutout of Sewanee… scored game winner in 4-0 win over Millsaps…scored two goals in 5-1 victory over Hendrix… scored goal in 7-0 win over Crichton College… scored lone goal in 2-1 loss to Centre…scored Lynx 2nd goal in 2-2 tie at Southwestern… drew penalty kick resulting in Rhodes lone goal in loss to Trinity…assisted Melanie Sharry in 4-1 win over Maryville College…scored a goal and had two assists in season opening 6-1 win over Luther College… voted captain by her teammates as a junior.

2005: Named 1st Team All-SCAC… Fall 2005 SCAC Academic Honor Roll… tied for team lead in scoring with 8 goals and 4 assists for 20 points… started 17 of 17 games… scored 3 goals in 5-1 win over Rose-Hulman… scored 2 goals in 5-0 shutout of Oglethorpe…scored one goal and had two assists in 3-0 win over Centre…scored 2 goals in come-from-behind victory against University of Dallas… assisted Meghan Davis in 5-2 win over Agnes Scott…assisted Molly Buss in season opening loss to Virginia Wesleyan.

2004: Named Team Co-MVP… 3rd in scoring with 3 goals and 3 assists for 9 points…scored game winner in 2-0 win over Hendrix… assisted Meghan Davis in 3-0 shutout of Oglethorpe… scored 2 goals including the game-winner in 3-0 win over Agnes Scott… assisted Meghan Davis in 3-1 victory vs. Mississippi College…assisted Meghan Davis in 6-0 win over Letourneau.

Before Rhodes: Daughter of Matt and Mimi Voelkel. Caroline graduated in the top 5 of her class at St. Scholastica. She was a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and was her class vice president as a junior and senior. She participated in the Key Club working with the TOPSoccer program for kids with disabilities. On the field she was named All-District MVP, All-Parish, All-Metro New Orleans and All-State for coach Terry Morris and won a state championship with her Mandeville Lakers club team under the direction of coach Jose Ferrand.
