As Rhodes continue to compete in the SAA Conference Championships, the Lynx hold onto their respective number one spot after 9 more events that occurred on Thursday, February 13th, in Danville, Kentucky.
The Women's first event of the day was the 500 Yard Freestyle, with a first place finish from sophomore Taylor Mcnerney (5:10.02). The 200 Yard IM is next, with Rhodes taking first, second, and third with fast times of 2:04.76 (Adeline Carroll), 2:08.14 (Gracie Shapard), and 2:08.93 (Katie Pierros). Â Though the lynx did not finish on the podium for th 50 Yard Freestyle, they came back and took first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (Eliza Hulverson, Paxton Smythe, Gracie Shapard, Adeline Carroll), with a time of 1:35.46. With these strong performances and many other supporting swims across the board, the ladies finish out the meet with a bigger lead than the previous day, and with big goals for Friday.
For the men, the Lynx took second and third in the 500 Yard Freestyle, with Daniel Snyder having a solid time of 4:38.32, and Will Wertenberger finishing a few seconds behind with a time of 4:41.09. In the 200 IM, Francesco Assalone took third place with a time of 1:53.85, securing more points for the men. Another third place appearance was seen in the 50 Yard Freestyle from Jonas Hostetler (21.21) In the last event of the night, the men swam strong and took second in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (Nick Kunst, Benji Cummings, Eddie Smith, Jonas Hostetler) with a time of 1:23.85. The Men's team remains stationary in first place, and will continue with more individual events tomorrow to stay secure in the number one spot.
