DANVILLE, Ky. (February 12, 2025) – Two-time defending champion Rhodes took a big first step towards a third title, sweeping the day one events to start the SAA Swimming & Diving Championship.
For the women, the 200 Yard Medley Relay team (Gracie Shapard, Paxton Smythe, Taylor Mcnerney, Eliza Hulverson) not only took first place, but bested the previous meet record, with a time of 1:44.75. In the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, the women (Mackenzie Roach, Taylor Mcnerney, Annie Murer, and Adeline Carroll) beat the competition with a confident 2 second lead, with a solid time of 7:41.91. The women's diving team finished out the day in the 1 meter with a first place finish by freshman Lucy Verwys, finishing with a score of 381.45. Annabelle Morle took third, securing more points for the Lynx (343.30).
For the men, the 200 Yard Medley Relay event was one of the strongest swims of the day, with the team (Josh Denckhoff, Jack Whitten, Jonas Hostetler, Nick Kunst) finishing with a new meet record, and only milliseconds shy of the open record (1:30.70). For the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, the men took first place with a 3 second lead, (Max Milburn, Phillip Mu, Josh Denckhoff, Daniel Snyder) finishing with a time of 6:49.55).

The Lynx's continue to compete at the SAA championships Thursday, February 13th, with the individual swimmers getting their chance to shine. Fans are encouraged to support the Lynx as they swim for the number one spot in the SAA.
