Atlanta, Ga. - Rhodes women's tennis has finished the first day of the International Tennis Association's South Regional. The Lynx went 7-8 in singles and 5-4 in doubles.
In singles,
Michelle Adan-Pol,
Caroline Doherty,
Kate McGough,
Dasha Safarian and
Caroline Yarbrough all defeated their first-round opponents. Continuing singles on Saturday will be Yarbrough and
Tricia Sculco in Flight C consolation rounds as well as
Julia Darkey in Flight A singles consolation.
In doubles, Adan-Pol and Safarian defeated Piedmont 8-2 and Centre 8-6 in the main draw to advance to the quarterfinals Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET against a tough Emory team. Yarbrough and
Madeleine McDonald also defeated both of their opponents in Flight B. The two Lynx beat Millsaps 9-7 and Piedmont 8-4 to advance to Saturday's 1 p.m. ET match against Sewanee in the semifinals. Darkey and Doherty have advanced to the main draw consolation round for a 1 p.m. game against Millsaps.
