MEMPHIS - The Rhodes women's tennis team went 1-2 over the weekend, picking up a win over Wesleyan (Ga.), 9-0, before dropping a pair of close matchups to Division II Delta State, 5-3, and Division I Tennessee State, 5-2.

Against Wesleyan on Friday, the Lynx were on fire, only losing two total games in the entire match. All three doubles teams rolled to 8-0 wins while all six singles teams won every match 6-0, 6-0 while No. 1 and No. 3 singles won, 6-1, 6-0.

Later that night, the Lynx battled the Statesmen in what would be a great match between the two teams. Rhodes went up 1-0 in doubles after junior Morgan Wilkins and frehsman Sara Lynn Abbott rolled to an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. After falling at No. 3 doubles, the team of junior Anna Volkov and freshman Caroline Doherty won four of the final five games to erase a 6-5 deficit and win the match 9-7. 

However, it was all Statesmen in singles competition as the teams agreed to play to decision. Delta State won four singles matches to score the 5-3 win over Rhodes. Abbott came away with the lone win at No. 4 singles, winning 4-6, 6-4, (6).

On Saturday, the team of Abbott and Wilkins continued to domiante the court, picking up their third doubles win of the weekend at No. 2 doubles, winning 8-2. Rhodes fell behind 2-1 after doubles and did not have enough to come-from-behind, falling 5-2 after singles.

Wilkins earned the lone win in singles, winning No. 3 singles in three sets.

The Lynx are now 4-2 on the season and will prepare to hit the road for their Spring Break trip, stopping in Tyler, Texas first on Monday to take on Texas-Tyler Patriots at 3:30 PM.
