The Rhodes volleyball team went 1-1 on day two of the SCAC Central-East Divisional held at Sewanee. The Lynx found themselves down 12-2 against Sewanee in the fifth set before coming back to win the set in dramatic fashion by the score of 16-14. After a quick turnaround, the Lynx faced off against Ogelethorpe, who won the first two sets. The Lynx fought back to tie the match at 2-2 however, the Petrels were too much and won fifth and final deciding set.
Against Sewanee, the Lynx dropped the first set while coming back to win the next two sets. After dropping the fourth set, the Lynx found themselves down 12-2 in the fifth set before coming back to win the set and the match. Outside Hitter
Meagan Mansfield led the Lynx with 14 kills while Setter
Nicole McAlvany led the team with 22 assists and 7 service aces. Freshman
Erin Lowrance led the Lynx with 4 blocks.
After the emotional win, the Lynx faced off against Oglethorpe thirty minutes later. The Lynx dropped the first two sets but then fought back to win the next two sets. Tied up at 2-2, the Lynx were unable to keep the momentum and dropped the deciding set by the score of 15-10. Senior outside hitter
Claire Warren led the team with 13 kills.
The team returns to action this weekend when they host the SCAC Central-West Divisional in Mallory Hyde Gymnasium. The tournament kicks off Saturday at 12pm.
