Game Recap: Rhodes vs. Transylvania University
The Rhodes College volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a dominant 3-0 sweep of Transylvania on Sept. 4 at Juhan Gymnasium in Sewanee, Tenn. The Lynx claimed straight-set victories of 25-13, 26-24 and 25-21, overcoming a close second set to secure the season-opening win.
Key Performances
Yzzi Dsamou led the Lynx with eight kills and added one block, while
Caroline Short and
Anna Satterfield each recorded seven kills. Rhodes finished with 31 kills as a team.
Olivia Wiseman contributed five aces and 12 digs, leading the Lynx in both categories.
Luca Prest added eight assists, two aces and five digs.
Emma Clark directed the Rhodes offense with a team-high 13 assists as the Lynx finished with 26 assists overall.
Defensively,
Rachel Clarke and
Chloe Dunnigan each recorded two blocks, while Dsamou added one. Rhodes held Transylvania to a -.024 hitting percentage for the match.
Game Highlights
Rhodes came out strong in the season opener, cruising to a 25-13 victory in the first set while hitting .235 and holding Transylvania to a -.167 hitting percentage.
The Pioneers challenged the Lynx in the second set, but Rhodes battled to a 26-24 victory to take a 2-0 match lead. The Lynx closed out the sweep in the third set, using a .281 hitting percentage to secure a 25-21 victory.
Rhodes finished the match with advantages in kills (31-23), aces (12-6), blocks (3-2) and assists (26-21), while limiting Transylvania to a -.024 hitting percentage.
