The Rhodes field hockey team earned their third shutout of the season in a 4-0 win at home over Sewanee (5-9, 1-5 SCAC). The Lynx started off slow up continued to gain momentum as the game progressed and finished strong to earn the win.
Katie Faucher and
Kat Simpson scored two goals each while
Sarah Kennedy,
Regan McLaughlin, and Faucher each earned an assist.
Sarah Ferguson,
Libby Jones, and
Kate Taylor had great efforts in the midfield while
Julia Price and Sam Anscher played very well on the defensive end of the field. Goalkeepers
Jordan Robinson and
Kelly Whelan combined for the shutout with two saves each. Rhodes out shot Sewanee 23-4 and held a 16-3 advantage in corners. The Lynx (9-6, 5-1 SCAC) have now clinched the SCAC Regular Season Title and will enter the conference tournament as the #1 seed. Rhodes will match up against #4 seeded Sewanee in the first SCAC Semifinal game on Saturday at 11 am. The second game semifinal, #2 Hendrix vs. #3 Centre, will be Saturday at 1:30 pm and the winners will play for the SCAC Championship Sunday at 11 am. All SCAC Tournament games will be played at Rhodes.
