Rhodes College Intramural Kickball

Rules: NO CLEATS ON THE FIELD TURF!!!!!

1. All kickers receive two pitches to be pitched by their own team - the ball is either kicked in fair territory or it is an out.
2. Once a pitch has been delivered, the pitcher must make every attempt to get out of the way of the defensive team making a play on the ball. If a same team pitcher interferes with a defensive players' ability to field a ball the kicker is out and the runner(s) must return to the bases they started on.
3. Kick must be with a full swing of the leg - no "bunting".
4. Pitch must be rolled and cannot hop, or bounce, to the kicker
5. Defensive players can throw the ball at the offensive player OR the out may be recorded traditionally if he/she has no yet reached a base - similar to baseball with the ball beating the runner to the bag.    *Note, ball can NOT strike at or above their shoulders.  Throws to the head are STRICTLY PROHIBITED AND CAN RESULT IN EJECTION.   A runner struck above the shoulders results in a “safe” call.  **A runner lower their head and inadvertently being hit with a throw at or above the shoulders is at the umpires’ discretion.
6. Each inning will consist of three outs.
7. Each game will consist of seven innings - if a team is up by 10 runs in the fifth inning the game will be called a run rule.
8. Each team can utilize up to ten defensive players but not less than eight.
9. Sliding is permitted at your own risk and must be directly into the bag - any slide deemed away from the bag, or in an attempt to break up a play, will result in the out of the runner and potentially the kicker (if a double play was being attempted). A SLIDE DEEMED DANGEROUS CAN RESULT IN EJECTION.

Ejections or a halted game can occur at any time if an official(s) feels the actions of a participant, or group of participants, is in any way placing the safety of others in jeopardy.
