Men's Track & Field Open Outdoor Season at Mississippi College

The Rhodes Men's Track & Field team opened the outdoor season this weekend at the Mississippi College Spring Classic, coming off last week's indoor conference championships. The Lynx produced a number of strong early-season performances, highlighted by multiple personal bests, collegiate debuts, and several scoring finishes.

Sprints & Hurdles

Freshman David Kienast had a strong start to his collegiate outdoor season, recording personal bests in both sprint events with an 11.06 in the 100m and a 22.93 in the 200m. Junior Mark Hanson also ran a collegiate best in the 100m, finishing in 11.51, while adding a 23.84 performance in the 200m.

Senior Bryce Tuchner competed in both hurdle events, running 15.82 in the 110m hurdles—just shy of his collegiate best set last season—and placing 6th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.72 to score team points.

Distance Highlights

Rhodes delivered one of the most impressive performances of the meet in the 1500 meters, with a large contingent of Lynx runners producing personal bests and collegiate openers.

Freshman Mercer Murphy led the field, winning the event in 4:10.36 in his collegiate outdoor debut. Junior Diego Donald followed with a personal best 4:11.52 to finish 4th, while senior Jack Sullivan placed 6th in 4:14.03.

Freshman Anderson Frank finished 8th in 4:16.47 in his collegiate opener, and freshman Collin Dillingham added a 4:17.46 performance in his debut. Personal bests were also recorded by Jack Hinds (4:24.05), Daze Evans (4:28.98), Max Barcan (4:34.43), and Jack Herman (4:26.81), while sophomore Wright McManus ran 4:24.20 in his first collegiate race!!

Field Events

Senior Liam Conroy highlighted the field events with a 3rd-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.65m. He also added a 7th-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 47.50m.

Junior Devin Caddle posted a personal best in the high jump, clearing 1.70m to place 5th overall.

In the horizontal jumps, Sumay Frueh recorded marks of 5.78m in the long jump and 12.22m in the triple jump, while Mark Hanson added a 5.59m mark in the long jump.

With numerous personal bests and a strong showing across all events, Rhodes opened the outdoor season with momentum following the indoor championship meet. The Lynx will look to continue building on these early-season performances as the outdoor campaign gets underway.

The Lynx will return to action March 20–21 as they host the Rhodes College Invitational, which will also celebrate the program's Senior Day.
