Men's Track & Field Compete at WashU Invitational

The Rhodes Men's Track & Field team traveled to St. Louis, Missouri this weekend to compete in the WashU Invitational, facing a deep and competitive field that included athletes from across multiple divisions. Despite the high level of competition, the Lynx delivered a strong weekend highlighted by personal bests, season bests, and several top finishes.

Sprints & Hurdles

Rhodes saw solid performances across the sprint events, led by sophomore Clayton Wentworth, who ran 11.29 in the 100m and 22.85 in the 200m. Freshman David Kienast followed with an 11.40 in the 100m, while junior Mark Hanson added a season-best 23.47 in the 200m along with an 11.73 in the 100m.

In the 400 meters, freshman Collin Dillingham competed well, finishing in 52.48.

Senior Bryce Tuchner led the way in the hurdle events, posting a season-best 58.37 in the 400m hurdles to place 12th overall, while also competing in the 110m hurdles where he finished in 15th.

Distance Highlights

The distance squad produced several strong efforts, including multiple personal best performances. In the 800 meters, freshman Mercer Murphy led Rhodes with a personal best time of 1:59.14 to place 11th overall, while sophomore Wright McManus followed in 2:02.05.

The 1500 meters saw a number of personal bests, highlighted by junior Diego Donald (4:11.07), sophomore Jack Hinds (4:13.91), and freshman Jack Herman (4:25.73). Freshman Anderson Frank (4:18.83), senior Owen Foster (4:28.34), and junior Daze Evans (4:33.51) also contributed strong efforts.

In the 5000 meters, senior Jack Sullivan placed 4th overall in 16:23.63, while junior Max Barcan recorded a personal best of 16:33.66 to finish 7th.

Sophomore Ian McCormack added a solid performance in the 3000m steeplechase, placing 7th in 10:39.82.

Field Events

Rhodes continued to show depth in the field events with several notable performances.

Senior Liam Conroy led the way with a 3rd-place finish in the javelin, throwing 50.94m, while also placing 12th in the hammer with a mark of 41.92m.

Junior Devin Caddle cleared 1.79m in the high jump to place 10th and also competed in the javelin, throwing 29.75m.

In the horizontal jumps, sophomore Sumay Frueh led Rhodes in the long jump with a mark of 6.05m, while freshman Nathan Copeland (5.97m) and junior Mark Hanson (5.92m) followed closely. Copeland also recorded a 12.15m jump in the triple jump, with Frueh just behind at 12.10m.

Freshman Will Crimm competed across multiple throwing events, recording a personal best in the hammer (20.26m), along with marks of 8.66m in the shot put and 24.46m in the discus.

Relays

The Rhodes relay teams continued to compete well against strong competition. The 4x100 relay team of Clayton Wentworth, David Kienast, Sumay Frueh, and Mark Hanson finished in 43.99.

The 4x400 relay team of Frueh, Dillingham, Wentworth, and Hanson posted a time of 3:32.41.

With multiple personal bests and season-best performances across event groups, the Lynx showed continued progress against a highly competitive field.

Select members of the distance squad will travel to San Francisco this weekend to compete at a high-level meet, while the rest of the team will remain in Missouri to compete at the Joey Haines Invitational. Rhodes will look to build on this momentum as the outdoor season continues.
