The Rhodes Men's Track & Field team closed out the championships in 6th. Despite this ranking, many individual performances stood out and earned valuable team points and built momentum across multiple event groups as the Lynx began their postseason campaign.
Sprints & Hurdles
Rhodes opened the meet with solid efforts in the sprint and hurdle finals. While Bryce Tuchner finished 7th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.59, he additionally took 3rd in the 400 meter hurdles with a commendable time of 56.02.
In the relay events, Clayton Wentworth, Blake Coogan, Sumay Frueh, and Mark Hanson finished in 7th for th 4x100 meter relay with a final time of 43.52. In the 4x400 meter, the team finished in 7th (Sumay Frueh, Collin Dillingham, Clayton Wentworth, Mercer Murphy) with a solid time of 3:31.18.
Distance Highlights
In the 5000 meter run, Diego Donald fell short of the podium in 9th place with a time of 15:44.86; Additionally, Jack Hinds placed higher than 20th with a time of 16:09.91. The 1500 meter run featured several individuals (Wright McManus, Jack Sullivan, Jack Herman) who pushed themselves in their respective event.
In the 800 meter run, first-years Mercer Murphy and Collin Dillingham finished sub 2 minute times (1:57.28 and 1:59.86, respectively).
Field Events
Rhodes had several individuals competed in events throughout the finals. Devin Caddle competed in high jump and cleared a 1.76 meter height. William Crimm continued his development in several events, notably shot put with a distance of 9.01 meters, and in discuss throw with a distance of 26.31 meters.
Sophomore Sumay Frueh competed in the triple jump and spanned a distance of 12.05 meters.
Looking Ahead
With the SAA Championships coming to a close, the lynx now have their efforts set on the University of Saint Francis Invitational on the weekend of May 8th. Fans are encouraged to support the lynx through their final meets of the year.
