Men’s Track & Field Compete in Vanderbilt Invitational

The Rhodes College Men's Track & Field team opened its 2026 indoor season this weekend in Nashville, Tennessee, competing at the Vanderbilt Invitational. The meet featured elite competition from across the NCAA, along with several professional athletes, providing the Lynx with an early-season test against top-tier talent. As one of the only Division III teams in the field, Rhodes delivered strong efforts across multiple events.

Sprints:

  • 60m Dash:
    • Sophomore Clayton Wentworth competed in the 60-meter dash, recording a time of 7.44 seconds in the preliminaries against a deep sprint field.
       
  • 400m Dash:
    • Sophomore Sumay Frueh ran 51.96 seconds in the 400 meters, finishing 37th overall in a highly competitive event.

Hurdles:

  • 60m Hurdles:
    • Senior Bryce Tuchner turned in a strong performance in the semifinals, running a personal record of 8.82 seconds to place 18th overall, marking a positive start to his indoor campaign.

Mid-Distance Events:

  • 800m Run: The Lynx freshmen made their season debuts in the 800 meters.
     
    • Collin Dillingham opened his season with an impressive 1:58.47, finishing 43rd overall and breaking the two-minute barrier.
       
    • Mercer Murphy followed with a solid season-opening performance, crossing the line in 2:00.71 for 47th place.
       
  • Mile Run:
    • Freshman Anderson Frank also competed in his indoor season opener, finishing the mile in 4:40.24 against a deep field of distance runners.
Opening the season against elite competition, Rhodes Track & Field demonstrated composure, competitiveness, and early-season promise. With a personal record already on the board and several freshmen making successful season debuts, the Lynx will look to build momentum as the indoor season continues.
