5/12/2025 8:45:00 PM

The Rhodes College Women's Golf Team has officially qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship, which will take place May 13–16 at Kingsmill Resort & Spa in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Rhodes, ranked No. 21 nationally, secured an automatic bid to the 34-team field after a standout 2024–2025 season. Under the leadership of Head Coach Sarah Posey, the Lynx posted a 305.7 adjusted scoring average across 17 rounds, captured two tournament victories, and recorded three top-three finishes—including winning the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Conference Championship.

Seniors Weatherly Spence, Megan Morris, Emily Mu, and Grace Young, along with sophomore Ava Bankston, will represent Rhodes in this year's national championship. This experienced and cohesive lineup brings both leadership and competitive depth to the team, with the seniors making their final collegiate appearance on Division III's biggest stages.

The championship will feature 72 holes of stroke play. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on advancing teams. Each day, the lowest four scores from each team will count toward the team total. A total of up to 176 participants will compete for both team and individual honors.

Day 1 – Plantation Course

Front 9- The Lynx got off to a steady start across the lineup. Ava Bankston led the team on the front nine with a composed 39 (+4), including a birdie on the par-3 5th. Megan Morris also carded a 39 (+4), showing strong tempo early in her round. Weatherly Spence posted a 40 (+5), keeping pace with her teammates with consistent ball striking. Grace Young delivered a solid 39 (+4), highlighted by pars on six of her opening nine holes. Emily Mu fired a 37 (+2), the lowest front-nine score for the team, staying under par through the first few holes.

Back 9- On the inward nine, Bankston finished with a 38 (+1), completing her round at 77 (+5) and positioning herself inside the top 30 individually. Morris stayed steady with another 39 (+2) to post a 78 (+6) overall. Spence matched that consistency with a 39 (+2), closing at 79 (+7). Young posted a 42 (+5), bringing her to 81 (+9) for the day. Day 2 – River Course
Wednesday, May 14

Tee Times-

Front 9-  Ava Bankston led the charge for the Lynx with a confident 2-over-par 40, starting with five consecutive pars to open her round. She was one of only a handful of players in the field to play holes 1–5 at even par. Her poise on the tee and solid putting helped her build momentum early.

Emily Mu delivered one of her best stretches of the week, carding a strong 1-over-par 38. She made a brilliant birdie on the par-3 2nd and closed the front nine with another on 9. Her tempo and touch on the greens were key contributors, helping her build positive momentum into the back nine.

Megan Morris opened with four straight pars and finished the front side at 4-over-par 41. Her consistency off the tee and confident putting allowed her to stay composed throughout, and she continued to play with great focus and control.

Grace Young showed resilience and steady ball striking on her way to a 43, recording pars on two of the course's most challenging holes—the par-3 5th and the par-5 9th. Her course management continues to be a strength for the Lynx lineup.

Weatherly Spence matched Young with a 43, showing great scrambling ability and a confident short game. Her ability to recover and maintain her rhythm highlighted her experience and leadership on the course.

Back 9-  Emily Mu led the Lynx with a smooth even-par 35 on the back nine. She played the stretch with remarkable consistency, highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 13th. Mu's control off the tee and calm demeanor under pressure gave Rhodes a crucial boost in the middle of the lineup.

Ava Bankston followed with a steady 36, navigating the River Course's closing holes with poise. She parred eight of the nine holes on the back and demonstrated excellent approach play throughout the inward stretch, helping her finish with her lowest round of the championship so far.

Megan Morris delivered a solid 39, showing her ability to grind and make key pars when needed. Her round featured a birdie on the par-3 17th and solid play across the longer par-5s. Morris has now posted back-to-back rounds under 80, providing reliable support near the top of the lineup.

Both Weatherly Spence and Grace Young turned in identical 37s on the back, closing strong for the Lynx. Spence rebounded with back-to-back pars on the challenging 17th and 18th, while Young carded five pars and showed excellent touch around the greens.
