Men's Track and Field Set Two School Records

The Rhodes College Track & Field team delivered a series of standout performances across sprints, mid-distance, distance, jumps, and throws in the University of Alabama Birmingham Green and Gold Invite on Saturday February 8th. With school records, personal records, and improvements in multiple events, the team showed promising progress competing in this DI heavy meet as one of two DIII teams.
  
Sprints & Hurdles:
- 60m Hurdles: Senior Hugh Stokes qualified for the finals with a time of 8.33 seconds (6th place) and later improved to 8.30 in the finals, finishing 7th overall and breaking his own school record in the event!
- 60m Dash: Freshman Jamal Witter clocked 7.32 seconds. 

Mid-Distance & Distance Events:
- Mile:  Senior Austin Rhea had a standout race, clocking a PR of 4:18.59 for 5th place and breaking the school record in the mile race!
- 800m: Junior Jack Sullivan set a PR, running 2:02.15 to finish 20th. Freshman Quinton Brooks followed in 22nd (2:03.89).  
- 3000m: Junior Daniel Blaich (8:55.37) and sophomore Diego Donald (8:56.92, PR) placed 10th and 11th, respectively, with solid performances. Freshman Ian McCormack (19th, 9:24.59) and junior Owen Foster (20th, 9:36.10) contributed strong finishes.  

Jumps & Throws:  
- Long Jump: Freshman Sumay Frueh led with a leap of 6.04m (19-09.75) for 20th place, while Jamal Witter placed 23rd (5.95m, 19-06.25).  
- Weight Throw: Junior Liam Conroy threw a PR of 13.29m (43-07.25) to finish 24th.  

Relays:
- The Men's 4x400m Relay team of Hugh Stokes, Sumay Frueh, Jamal Witter, and Bryce Tuchner clocked 3:34.44.  


Rhodes Track & Field displayed strong performances across multiple disciplines, with multiple PRs and two school records broken! The team will look to build on these successes as they continue their indoor season.
