Rhodes Swimming and Diving Dominates Millsaps

In an exciting meet on September 21, 2024, the Rhodes College swim and dive team showcased impressive performances against Millsaps College. The women's team demonstrated remarkable teamwork, securing first place in the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay with the A team clocking in at 2:03.36, featuring standout swimmers Gracie Shapard, Paxton Smythe, Eliza Hulverson, and Adeline Carroll. The B team, comprised of Marissa Maheu, Autumn Bruns, MacKenzie Roach, and Annie Murer, followed closely with a time of 2:08.57.

On the men's side, the Rhodes A team also shone in the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay, finishing with a time of 1:48.05, thanks to the efforts of Josh Denckhoff, Jack Whitten, Jeb Brownell, and Daniel Snyder. The B team, with Philip Mu, Benji Cummings, Liam Ashton, and Nick Kunst, took second in 1:49.68.

Taylor McNerney led the women's 800 SC Meter Freestyle, finishing first in 9:46.05, while Emma Knoesel and Sarah Seawright followed, taking second and third respectively. Will Wertenberger dominated the men's 800 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 9:01.88, contributing valuable points to the team.

In individual events, Adeline Carroll took first in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle (2:10.37), with Caroline Netolicky and Kallen Huth following in second and third. Daniel Snyder shone in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle as well, finishing first in 1:57.69.

Diving performances were strong too, with Lucy Verwys achieving a score of 247.17 in the 1-meter dive, and John Beuerlein securing first place in the men's 1-meter diving with a score of 344.70.

The meet concluded with the Rhodes A team dominating the 400 SC Meter Freestyle Relay, finishing first with a time of 4:09.56, thanks to the efforts of Smythe, Hulverson, McNerney, and Kelner.

Overall, the Rhodes team exhibited excellent teamwork and dedication throughout the event, securing numerous first-place finishes and showcasing the depth of talent on their roster. The next challenge for Rhodes will be against the University of the Ozarks on October 4, 2024, in Clarksville, Arkansas, where they aim to continue their winning momentum.
