The Lynx Track and Field team concluded their participation at the NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field National Championship today, marking the end of an impressive Indoor season filled with notable finishes.
Today, Senior
TJ Clayton blazed through the 200 m dash, recording a time of 21.60 on the banked track of the Virginia Beach Sports Complex. This was a mere 0.07 seconds shy of his personal best, set during the preliminaries on day 1 of the National Championships. His performance earned him the 7th spot in the nation and the prestigious All-American status. This is his second All-American title, following his 6th place finish in the 100m dash at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2023. As the reigning indoor SAA champion of the 60m and 200m races, this Louisiana native is a force to be reckoned with as the outdoor track and field season looms.
Another outstanding performance today was by freshman standout
Justin Davis. Impressive enough that this freshman qualified for the NCAA National Championships, Davis advanced to today's triple jump finals, finishing 9th overall with a leap of 14.37 meters. He also competed in the long jump yesterday, finishing 11th and jumping 6.96. The horizontal jumper capped off his first indoor season, making a mark, and is the reigning indoor SAA champion in both jumps as we head into the outdoor season.
This marks a fitting end to the 2024 Indoor season for Lynx Track and Field. The teams will compete again at the Rhodes College Invitational, which will be held at home in Memphis on March 15th and 16th.
