A small Men's and Women's Track and Field crew just returned from the Vanderbilt Indoor Meet this weekend. The Lynx had outstanding performances after little or no training this week due to inclement weather. The team mainly competed against DI competition, including several SEC schools.
Daniel Blaich ran the 5K at 15:55.
TJ Clayton broke the school indoor record in the 200M in 21.81 seconds. He finished 4th out of 49 athletes. Freshman
Justin Davis crushed it in the triple jump, setting a new school record of 48'2". He finished 7th out of 23 jumpers and is currently ranked 3rd nationally.
Justin Thompson ran a solid 1:54.17 in the 800M, finishing 16th out of 58 runners, giving him a shot to qualify for indoor nationals later.
Olivia Freeman won her section of the 60 in 7.76 and finished 16th out of 59 competitors. She currently sits 6th nationally in the 60M. Thora ran 1:00.10 in the 400M and is ready to dip under 60 seconds at her next race.
All of these athletes have a chance to qualify for the NCAA Indoor National Championships in early March. These times this early in the season show potential for all-American status. They were competing against the nation's best across all NCAA divisions, with results like these revealing the high caliber of the Rhodes College Track and Field Athletes.
