ATLANTA, Ga. (March 15, 2022) - Rhodes senior right-handed pitcher C.J. Carron has been named the SAA Pitcher of the Week for games played March 7-14, as voted on by the conference sports information directors. 

Carron took the mound in game two of a doubleheader at Stauffer Field on Sunday afternoon and dominated one of the most potent offenses in the country. He started the day with a pair of strikeouts in the first, and followed that by striking out the side in the second inning. After allowing an unearned run in the third, he bounced back by striking out two more in the fourth. A leadoff double in the fifth by the Panthers could have been an issue, but Carron was able to pick off the runner at second, and then struck out the next two hitters to escape the jam. He added one more strikeout in the sixth and the seventh before being lifted one out before finishing the complete game. 

Carron's final line read 6.2 innings, seven hits, two runs (one earned), one walk and a career-high twelve strikeouts. His 40 punchouts on the season are the fourth-highest in the SAA. 

Rhodes is currently in Florida playing five games during their 2022 spring break trip. They will be back in Memphis for a single game against Christian Brothers on Tuesday, March 22.
