Tennis Earns Second Win in as Many Days

Rhodes defeated Ouachita Baptist on Saturday afternoon

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (February 19, 2022) - Rhodes once again escaped with a close win, this time taking out the Ouachita Baptist Tigers at their place, 4-3. The win moves Rhodes to 2-0 on the young season.

The Tigers controlled things from the jump, capturing all three doubles matches to earn the first point.
1) Crocker/Davilus def. Emily Holderness/Lea Letourneau 7-6 (9-2)
2) Turner/Gaston def. Michelle Adan-Pol/Emma McHale 6-1
3) Valenzuela/Hansard def. Julia Darkey/Kate McGough 6-4

Needing four points from the six singles matches, Rhodes was able to come through in the clutch. It was a tight one, with four of six matches going to extra sets, but in the end, the Lynx reigned supreme.

1) Esme Benjamin def. Turner 4-6, 6-0, 6-4
2) Crocker def. Adan-Pol 6-1, 6-1
3) Letourneau def. Gaston 6-4, 3-6, 6-4
4) Holderness def. Valenzuela 7-5, 6-2
5) McHale def. Davilus 5-7, 6-3, 6-4
6) Mary def. Dallas Bennett 7-6 (7-2), 6-2

McHale and Holderness are the only Lynx single players with an unblemished record so far. 

Rhodes will host Division II West Georgia at the Dunavant Tennis Complex on campus next Friday, February 25 with first serve scheduled for 3:00 pm.
