MEMPHIS - All-Academic team honors and individual scholar athletes for the 2021 NCAA Division III Track & Field seasons have been announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
To be eligible, teams must have maintained a cumulative team GPA (not 2020-21 academic year, not semester) of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter
Both the men's and women's teams of Rhodes College were recognized for their academic efforts. The men's team combined for a 3.47 team GPA while the Lynx women rallied for a 3.68 GPA. A total of 373 teams (213 women's, 160 men's) were honored for their academics by the USTFCCCA.
Individuals were also announced by the USTFCCCA. To be eligible, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 (male) or 3.30 (female) and must have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- Must have finished the indoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who were accepted into the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible
- Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who were accepted in the relay at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships (alternates are excluded), are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.
Three Lynx women and two men garnered individual scholar All-Academic honors. They are listed below, as well as their graduation year and major:
Jared Briant '22 - Chemistry
Maddie Chandler '22 - Environmental Science
Billy Clark '22 - Biology
Rachel Sullivan '23 - Economics
Sam Withers '23 - Economics and Business
