Cleveland, Miss. - The Rhodes College swimming and diving teams performed well Friday on day one in the matchup against NCAA DII Delta State University.
Freshman
John Beuerlein made his collegiate debut scoring 252.96 points in the diving section Friday before teammates
Arthur Bishop and
Evan Ziolkowski broke three program records in the evening.
Ziolkowski won the 200 free in 1:40.30, breaking his own program record set at the 2020 Southern Athletic Association Championships. The junior won the event by four seconds before winning the 500 free in 4:42.51, the third fastest time in program history. Ziolkowski also led off the 400 free relay where he broke the 100 free program record set in 2015-16 in a time of 45.69.
Bishop broke the 200 back record in a time of 1:54.13, earning third place.
On the women's side, freshman
Lauren Cordes won the 500 free in a time of 5:05.18, the second fastest time in program history. This week's time is a seven-second collegiate best over her SAA Swimmer of the Week time from opening weekend.
