MEMPHIS - The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Softball team, as selected by CoSIDA, was announced last week. The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizes student-athletes for both their academic and athletic performances. Within NCAA Division III, the Academic All-District teams are divided into eight districts as Sports Information Directors within their respective district vote for the high-caliber award. Rhodes, representing NCAA Div. III District Five (AL, AR, FL, GA, MO, MS, NC, PR, SC, TN, VA) has one softball student-athlete earning the honor.
Recent Lynx graduate Kendall Henry (Roseville, Calif.), who played the majority of the time behind the plate catching this season, was named to the 2019 Google Cloud NCAA Division III Academic All-District Five Team, earning her first career CoSIDA All-Academic honor.
Henry was twice named the SAA Player of the Week this season. She is currently ranked 11th nationally in doubles (19), tying Rhodes program record and has new career marks with 166 games played, 164 games started, 136 RBI and 54 career doubles. This season she also recorded career-highs in batting average (.409), slugging percentage (.795), hits (54), RBI (44), runs scored (29), walks (13), on-base percentage (.480) and home runs (10).
Henry has a 3.56 grade point average and majored in business. She is a four-time All-SAA honoree including back-to-back first team selections her junior and senior seasons. Henry was tabbed honorable mention All-SAA her first two seasons as outfielder and catcher.
To be eligible for nomination to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or an important reserve.
Henry is now eligible to be selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Team, announced June 4.
