Game Recap: Rhodes vs. No. 4 Berry College
The Rhodes College softball team battled back from multiple deficits but ultimately fell to Berry College 6–5 in extra innings on May 8, 2026, in Columbus, Georgia. The Lynx rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning before Berry secured the walk-off victory in the bottom of the ninth to end Rhodes' postseason run.
Rhodes collected 12 hits offensively and erased a three-run deficit midway through the game, but Berry capitalized on a late opportunity in extra innings to pull out the narrow victory.
Key Performances
Kaitlyn Sun led the Lynx offense with a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate, driving in two runs with a third-inning double that brought Rhodes back into the game.
Talia Travis added two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored, including a clutch two-run double in the sixth inning that trimmed the deficit to one.
Jasmyn Stanley also finished with two hits and drove in the game-tying run later in the inning.
Kate Ledlie and
Peyton Rohrig each contributed hits as Rhodes totaled 12 hits in the contest.
In relief,
Abby Froelich gave the Lynx a strong effort over 5.1 innings, allowing just one unearned run while striking out three to keep Rhodes within striking distance late in the game.
Game Highlights
Berry took an early 3–0 lead through the first two innings before Rhodes answered in the top of the third. Sun lined a two-run double down the third-base line to score Stanley and Travis, cutting the deficit to 3–2.
Berry responded with two more runs in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 5–2, but Rhodes mounted another comeback in the sixth. Travis delivered a two-run double to left field before Stanley followed with an RBI single to center field, tying the game at 5–5.
Both teams remained scoreless over the next two innings as the game moved into extras. In the bottom of the ninth, Berry loaded the bases before an infield single and throwing error allowed the winning run to score, ending the contest.
Season Review
With the loss, Rhodes concludes its 2026 season with a 26–16 overall record after another competitive run through the SAA Tournament. The Lynx battled through a strong postseason field and will return key contributors heading into next season.
