Rhodes Swimming & Diving Broke Five Records and Swam Four B-Cuts at Transy Invite

Lexington, Ky. - Rhodes College swimming and diving won 12 events at the fifth annual Transylvania University Invitational, held on the campus of the University of Kentucky. Nine institutions participated in the two-day event with the Rhodes women placing first with 850 points while the Rhodes men competed to a third place finish with 462 points. 

Rhodes broke a combined five records and swam four B-Cuts on their way to 28 first-place finishes. 

Men
The men's squad broke two records each day with Hayden Hill etching his name in all four marks. Hill swam B-Cut times in the prelims and final race of the 200 fly, breaking his own record with a new time of 1:48.59. On Sunday he swam to a 49.85 second 100 fly, breaking his own record yet again. He also swam a leg of the 200 and 400 medley relay teams, setting new marks. Hill also placed first in the 200 individual medley. Freshman Zac Gammons also placed first, winning the 100 back in 52.34 seconds. Evan Ziolkowski placed second in the 100 free in a time of 47.35. 

Members of the 200 medley relay record-breaking team, which placed second in 1:35.08 include Zac Gammons, Richard Gentry, Hayden Hill and Evan Ziolkowski. The 400 medley relay record-breaking team of Gammons, Gentry, Hill and Harrison Rozman placed third in 3:29.47.

The Rhodes men tallied 23 personal bests, 47 seasonal bests, and earned nine top-three finishes.

Women
Allie Hill led the Rhodes women, swimming to three first place marks. She recorded two NCAA B-Cuts in the 200 back, breaking her own record with a new time of 2:01.61. She also won the 100 fly and 400 individual medley. Madi Griffin (100 breast, 200 free), Grace Tolan (200 fly), Julia Cronk (200 IM), and Elyse Jacobs (1650 free) all won events. Griffin (50 free), Cronk (100 fly), Lilli Metts (500 free) and Carly Good (1650 free) placed second in their respective events while Tolan (400 IM) and Jacobs (500 free) rounded out third place finishes.

The Rhodes women recorded 19 top-three finishes including eight first, nine second and two third. The Lynx swam to 21 personal bests and recorded 85 season bests.
