MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College women's tennis team moved to 5-1 on the season as they got past the Covenant Scots by the score of 7-2 on Saturday morning at the Dunavant Tennis Courts.
The Lynx began by sweeping doubles as the No. 1 team of senior
Anna Volkov and sophomore
Caroline Doherty picked up a dominant 8-1 win while the No. 2 team of sophomore
Sara Lynn Abbott and freshman
Natalie Arnold won 8-5.Â
Rhodes completed the sweep as the team of freshmen
Madeleine McDonald and
Mary Mullen were victorious at No. 3 doubles, 8-6.
The Lynx quickly completed the match with domination at No. 1, 2, and 3 singles. Doherty picked up a win at No. 1, 6-2, 6-3, while Volkov won at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1. Arnold won at No. 3, 6-1, 6-3.
The final three courts played one super set as McDonald was the other victorious Rhodes player at No. 5 singles, 8-1.
Rhodes will be back in action tomorrow morning as they open up Southern Athletic Association play with a 9 AM home matchup against Hendrix College.
