MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College women's tennis team dropped a close see-saw battle on Friday evening to the Belhaven Blazers, falling 5-4 at Dunavant Tennis Courts.
The Lynx started the afternoon by taking the doubles point as sophomore Sara Lynx Abbott and freshman
Natalie Arnold were victorious at No. 2 doubles, 8-5, while freshmen Maedeline McDonald and
Mary Mullen won at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
Holding a 2-1 lead going into singles, Abbott picked up her second win of the day, this time winning at No. 4 singles by the score of 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore
Caroline Doherty also had success, winning at No. 1 singles by the score of 6-4, 6-1 to get the Lynx to four points as a team.
The match would come even at four a piece with one court left to decide a winner. However, Rhodes would fall 5-4 as they picked up their first loss of the season.
Regardless of the loss, Rhodes moves to 3-1 overall. They return to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Huntingdon at 1 PM at Dunavant Tennis Courts.
