MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Rhodes College women's tennis team saw their 2016 season come to a close as they fell to the No. 2 seed, the Birmingham-Southern Panthers, 7-2 in the SAA Tennis Championships at Old Fort Park.
The Lynx automatically fell behind two points as they were down a player. They would drop both double points as they fell into a 4-0 hole. The team of freshman
Sara Lynn Abbott fell just short at No. 2 doubles, 8-6, while freshman
Caroline Doherty and junior
Anna Volkov dropped a 8-5 decision at No. 1 doubles.
Rhodes got a pair of wins in singles action as Volkov won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles while Wilkins was victorious 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Volkov earned a spot on the All-Tournament team for her effort.
The Lynx conclude their season with an overall record of 6-14.
