MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Rhodes College men's tennis team saw their season come to a close on Friday afternoon at the SAA Tennis Championships at Old Fort Park as they fell to No. 5 Millsaps, 5-4.
It was a tightly contested match as the two teams went back-and-forth in doubles action. The team of freshman
Sean Hogan and junior
Albert Vacheron picked up an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles; however, the No. 1 team of seniors
Eliot Blatt and
Greyson Brilliant dropped a close 8-5 decision while freshmen
Sairam Gudiseva and Henry Barret dropped an 8-6 contest at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Vacheron eached a 7-6 (6-4), 7-5 win at No. 2 singles while Hogan earned a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. Brilliant pulled in a three-set winners at No. 4 singles, winning 6-0, 4-6, 6-0. For the Lynx though, it was not enough as Millsaps pulled out the victory to end Rhodes' season.
Vacheron earned a spot on the All-Tournament team for his effort. Rhodes concludes the season with a 9-10 overall record.
