CONWAY, Ark. - The Rhodes College track and field team competed at the University of Central Arkansas Open on Saturday afternoon in their final tuneup before the Southern Athletic Association Championships next weekend.
On the women's side, the Lynx got an excellent showing in the 800 as sophomore
Abby Watkins placed second with a time of 2:20.82 followed by junior
Kendall Reed in third at 2:22.11, senior
Brittany Alexander in fourth at 2:22.78, and freshman
Rosie Lobelson in seventh at 2:26.52.
Senior
Haley Pryor earned a second place finish in the pole vault with a jumpe of 3.55m while senior
Mariko Krause placed second in the javelin with a throw of 32.33m.
In the shot put, junior
Kira Curry placed fourht with a throw of 11.80m and fifth in the discus with a throw of 35.96m. Pryor would finish fifth in the hammer throw at 40.82m.
On the men's side, the 800m shined again as senior
Matt Dsida placed fifth with a run of 1:56.22 while senior
Connor Fagan placed sixth with a time of 1:56.78. Freshman Spencer Field finished ninth in the 1500m with a time of 4:10.47.
In the high jump, sophomore
Renn Eason placed second at 1.95m while sophomore
Peter Daniels placed fifth in the pole vault with a jump of 3.70m.
The SAA Championships are set to take place on Friday, April 22nd in Birmingham, Ala. and will move into Saturday with a champion crowned that evening.
