BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Rhodes College men's tennis team fell to Birmingham-Southern on Sunday afternoon in a hard fought match, 6-3. With the loss, the Lynx clinched the No. 4 seed at the upcoming SAA Tennis Championships.
In doubles action, the Panthers were able to get wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. However, the team of seniors
Eliot Blatt and
Greyson Brilliant picked up a nice win at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, to make it a 2-1 match.
In singles action, Brilliant earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles while freshman
Sean Hogan picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles. The Lynx got a great effort from junior
Albert Vacheron and freshman
Sairam Gudiseva, but they each fell in three sets at their respective courts.
Rhodes moves to 9-9 overall and 4-3 in conference play. They will move on to the SAA Tennis Championships on April 29th, where they will likely take on the No. 5seed Millsaps College.
