JACKSON, Miss. - The Rhodes College men's tennis team earned will be in the top half of the Southern Athletic Association Championship after defeating the Millsaps Majors on the road, 6-3.
It all started at doubles, as the team of junior
Albert Vacheron and freshman
Sean Hogan earned an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles. However, the Majors responded with an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles. It all came down to No. 1 doubles where seniors
Eliot Blatt and
Greyson Brilliant earned a huge win to give Rhodes the lead, 9-8 (6).
Despite Millsaps earning wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Vacheron would cruised to a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles while Brilliant was victorious at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4. Hogan would come away victorious in straight sets at No. 6 singles while freshman
Henry Barrett won at No. 3 singles in three sets.
Rhodes moves to 9-8 overall and 4-2 in the SAA. They will conclude their season on the road on Sunday as they take on the Birmingham-Southern Panthers at 1 PM.
