MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Rhodes College men's tennis team secured a 9-0 win over the Berry College Vikings on Saturday afternoon to move to 8-8 overall and 3-2 in SAA play.
The Lynx opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles. The No. 3 team of freshmen
Sairam Gudiseva and
Henry Barrett secured an 8-0 win while the No. 2 team of junior
Albert Vacheron and freshman
Sean Hogan were victorious, 8-1. Seniors
Eliot Blatt and
Greyson Brilliant completed the 3-0 sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
In singles competition, Brilliant rolled at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win while Vacheron won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Gudiseva and Hogan each picked up victories at No. 5 (6-3, 6-3) and No. 6 (6-1, 6-4) singles while Barrett won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Blatt played in the match of the day, going to a three set thriller at No. 1 singles. After dropping the first set, 7-6 (1), Blatt responded to win the next two sets, 6-2, 10-8, to give Rhodes the 9-0 victory.
Rhodes will be back on the road next weekend for their final matchups of the regular season. They will first stop in Jackson, Miss. on Saturday morning for a 9 AM matchup against Millsaps College.
