GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Rhodes College women's tennis team continued their Spring Break Texas Roadtrip as they traveled to Georgetown, Texas to battle the Southwestern University Pirates. Rhodes did not have enough on the day as they fell to the Pirates, 8-1.

Down to only five players in the match, Rhodes found themselves down 2-0 immediately due to walkovers at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. After No. 2 doubles dropped their set, the team of freshman Caroline Doherty and junior Anna Volkov earned a big win at No. 1 doubles, defeating Anna Schneemann and Emilie Moeller, 8-6, to make it a 2-1 match going into singles.

The Pirates would take control in singles action, sweeping the courts for the win. Volkov dropped a close one at No. 2 singles, following in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5, to Julie Swets. After falling 6-0 in set one, senior Annie Thomas put together a great battled in the second set, but fell just short 7-6 (2). Doherty also dropped a close one at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-3.

Rhodes moves to 4-4 overall and will move down to San Antonio, Texas as they prepare for a matchup against Trinity University tomorrow at 4:00 PM
