GEORGETOWN, Texas - After falling behind 2-1 in double competition, the Rhodes College men's tennis team proceeded to win five of the six singles matches to come-from-behind and defeat the Southwestern Pirates, 6-3, on Tuesday evening.

The Lynx duo of freshmen Sean Hogan Sairam Gudiseva fell in a close match at No. 3 doubles, 8-5, but the No. 1 doubles team of senior Eliot Blatt and freshman Henry Barrett bounced back and defaeted Will Ellis and Sam McCready, 8-5. However, the No. 2 team of juniors Albert Vacheron and Daniel Olivier dropped a heartbreak at No. 2 doubles, 9-8 (6) to fall behind 2-1 going into singles.

In singles, Barrett led things off with a straight set win over Haluki Nakayama, 7-5, 6-4, to even things up while Olivier won a close match, 7-6 (2), 6-3, to move Rhodes ahead 3-2. The Pirates would even it up at No. 1 singles, but Vacheron came through with a huge comeback win at No. 2 singles, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, to put the Lynx back on top 4-3.

Gudiseva would clinch the match at No. 6 singles with a dominant, 6-1, 6-1 win. With the match already clinched, Hogan went on and picked up a tough three-set win at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Rhodes moves to 4-3 overall and will continue its Spring Break trip through the Lone Star State on Wednesday afternoon as they travel to San Antonio to take on Trinity Univeristy at 4:00 PM.
