CONWAY, Ark. - The Rhodes College men's tennis team went to 2-0 on the season and opened Southern Athletic Association play up with a 9-0 road win over the Hendrix College Warriors.
The Lynx got things rolling in doubles competition as the No. 2 doubles team of freshman
Sean Hogan and freshman
Phillips Hutchison took an 8-1 win over Ian McVinney and Kiran Chakka. The No. 3 team of juniors
Albert Vacheron and
Daniel Olivier clinched the doubles point with an 8-3 win over Luke Lefler and Daniel Habenicht.
At No. 1 doubles, Rhodes earned the sweep as the team of seniors
Eliot Blatt and
Greyson Brilliant defeated Karthik Garimella and Kristian Lenser, 8-6, to lead 3-0 going into singles competition.
From there, the Lynx absolutely dominated. Vacheron would eventualy clinch the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Garimella while Olivier and freshman
Sairam Gudiseva earned a pair of straight set wins, both coming at 6-0, 6-1.
Brilliant rolled past Chakka, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 4 singles while Blatt defeated McVinney, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles. Freshman
Henry Barrett gave Rhodes the 9-0 win by defeated Lenser, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 3 singles.
The Lynx will look to keep it going as they return home tomorrow for a 10 AM start against Christian Brothers.
