MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Rhodes women's tennis team pulled out a narrow victory over Millsaps College on Saturday in Southern Athletic Association play, 5-4.

The Lynx got off to a strong start in doubles led by an 8-0 win at the No. 2 position by Morgan Wilkins and Elyse Smith, and an 8-4 victory at the No. 3 position by Natalie Vacheron and Prianka Bose.
 
The Lynx took their 2-1 lead into singles needing to win three courts. Senior Amelia McIsaac had a tough match in singles taking on the No. 10 player in the region and lost 6-1, 6-2.
 
Anna Volkov faced a tough match-up at the No. 2 position and lost 6-2, 6-1. Wilkins was able to secure the first singles win for the Lynx laying No. 3 6-1, 6-1. Needing to win two out of the three remaining matches Smith took the next victory with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.
 
Looking for one more court nothing was guaranteed as Vacheron had won the first set in a tiebreaker but found herself down 4-2 in the second, and Bose had won her first set but was also down 4-2 in her second set. Vacheron was able to tell herself, 'I'm not playing a third set' and delivered four straight games to clinch the match for the Lynx with a 7-6(2), 6-4 victory. It was an exciting day for the Lynx as they improve to 2-3 in conference play.
 
The Lynx continue conference play tomorrow, April 12 against Birmingham Southern College.
