Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Lynx went toe to toe with Williams Baptist College on Friday, but couldn't overcome Eagles falling in five sets, 3-2.
The Lynx fall to 4-5 on the season while WBC improves to 10-1 on the year.
The Lynx were ready to battle, as they came out and grabbed the first set with a commanding score of 25-17. The next set was also won by the Lynx, where it took extra points to declare a set winner where Rhodes worked for a 31-29 victory.
Rhodes couldn't hold on to the momentum as they fall in the next three sets, 25-20, 25-21 ad 15-10.
The Lynx got a huge offensive showing from first-year
Elasha Williams, where she swung for a game high 20 kills in the outing.
Mollie Newbern added 14 kills herself, with
Catherine Grimes swinging for 11 kills.
Dishing out the ball and wracking up a career-high 47 assists was first-year
Caryn Hawkins.
The Lynx had great defensive performances from senior
Maraia Tremarelli and Williams as they each sprawled for an impressive 22 digs, while setter Hawkins added 11 digs in the contest.
The Lynx were strong at the net, where they played fro 12 blocks, with
Gabby Gafford and Newbern leading the way with three blocks each.
Tremarelli and
Lauren Johnson each added four services aces in the outing.
The Lynx will be back on the court on Saturday, Sept. 13 when they face off against Philander College at 10 a.m.
