Rhodes posts 17-2 win in home season finale over Oglethorpe

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Rhodes women's lacrosse team posted a 17-2 defeat of Oglethorpe on senior day in Southern Athletic Association play.
 
The Lynx improve to 7-3 in its first season and an even 3-3 in league play while Oglethorpe falls to 0-13 and 0-6 in the SAA.
 
The Lynx onslaught was started by Lindsey Gess, who netted the first Lynx goal at the 27:35 mark of the first half. Despite a tying Petrels goal just two minutes later, Rhodes added nine unanswered goals, including scores from senior Jenny Bitzer and also from Ashley Dill, Morgan Fuller, and Lisle Bruns. Oglethorpe would find the back of the net one more time before the end of the half to make the count 10-2 at the break.
 
Rhodes continued to charge ahead, taking on seven more goals in the second half, including a score from senior Allison Bruff to give each of the graduating players a goal in their final home contest. Maiar Salameh chalked up the final Lynx goal to make the ending score 17-2.
 
Rhodes outshot their opponents by a count of 40-8, and also scooped up more ground balls by a tally of 10-3. The Lynx also caused an impressive seven turnovers in the outing, including two from Shauni Cowan.
 
Sarah Daniels kept the goal for the Lynx all 60 minutes, grabbing five saves while in the goal.
 
Rhodes will wrap up its season on the road as the Lynx head to Hendrix College on April 12.
