Lynx Men Handed First Spring Loss At Southern Shootout

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Rhodes Lynx Men's Tennis Team struggled throughout in their first spring test.

On the road in Atlanta, Ga. at the Southern Shootout, The Captains grabbed the momentum by taking 2 of the first 3 doubles points and never looked back.  The freshman tandem of Vacheron and Olivier leveled the score by taking third doubles 8-1, but it was not enough as CNU took courts one and two easily, 8-3 and 8-1.

Making quick work of courts three, two, and six, the match was clinched before the Lynx gained their footing and made the Captains earn the rest of their points.  Colin Perry, hampered with an injury, battled Manilla of CNU to a close 6-4 decision in the second set, but Trevor Lew and Eliot Blatt battled tough and came away with wins on Line one and Line five.

Easily the competition of the dual match was first singles and Eliot Blatt sealed a win against a quality freshman opponent 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).

The Lynx are back in action at 3 p.m. today against the regionally ranked Methodist University Monarchs as the Southern Shootout continues at Blackburn Tennis Center in Atlanta, Ga.
