STANDISH, Maine – The Rhodes field hockey team picked up a big win on the road against St. Joseph's College of Maine on Sunday, rolling the Monks 4-0.
Rhodes improves to 10-2 while St. Joseph falls to 11-2 on the year.
With a 15th minute goal from sophomore
Christina DiFelice the Lynx carried a 1-0 lead into halftime break.
In the second half of action, Rhodes proceeded to pour on the pressure with three markers in the second stanza, two from junior
Mary Rose Hazel, at the 49 minute mark and in the 57th minute. DiFelice added a second goal in the final minute of play, to win the Lynx fourth straight and hand the Monks their first setback in over a month.
Rhodes held sizeable advantages in shots (14-1) and penalty corners (9-2) in the victory.
Erin Bailey stood tall in the cage for the Lynx for 62 minutes, with
Laura Eckelkamp grabbing eight minutes of play.
Rhodes will continue their road trip in Maine on Oct. 21 when they take on Bowdin College at 4 p.m.
