BRUNSWICK, Maine. – The Rhodes field hockey team fell to the No. 2 ranked Bowdoin College on Tuesday, 7-1.
The Lynx fall to 10-3 on the season while the Polar Bears improve to 12-1 in 2014.
Rhodes started the scoring in the 7th minute when
Julie Hertzman netted an unassisted goal.
The Polar Bears netted five unanswered goals in the first half, with a goal from Rachel Kennedy at the 13th minute, a Kimmy Ganong goal in the 14th minute. Kennedy and Ganong each added another goal in the 15th and 21st minutes, with the final goal of the half coming from Adrienne O'Donnell at the 30 minute mark.
The Lynx were held scoreless in the second half, with Bowdoin posting two more scores at the 38th minute and 48th minute, both from the stick of Kennedy.
In 35 minutes of play, goal keeper
Erin Bailey faced 24 shots on goal, snagging seven saves.
Laura Eckelkamp saw 35 minutes in the cage for the Lynx as well, picking up ten saves.
Rhodes took four shots in the outing compared to their counterparts 34. Rhodes was awarded six corner opportunities to the Polar Bears nine.
Rhodes will be back in action on Oct. 25 at Hendrix College.
