MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes volleyball fell in a tight conference battle to 3-0 Berry College Friday in Southern Athletic Association action.
 
The loss moves the Lynx back to 3-12 and 2-2 in conference play. The Vikings move up to 10-3 and 4-0 in the SAA.
 
Rhodes never trailed in the first set by more than four points, and led by as much as three points when Catherine Grimes swung for a kill to make the score 13-10. The Lynx faced a back and forth battle but couldn't hold on in the end when they fell in the first set 25-21.
 
Rhodes came out on their heels in the second set and quickly found themselves in a 17-9 hole. Rhodes couldn't muster a rally and fell 25-13 to the Vikings.
 
In the third set the Lynx gathered their composure after falling behind 14-6. Rhodes used a 10-1 run to even things up at 15 points all after a Lauren Johnson kill. However the Lynx couldn't maintain their momentum, falling 25-21.
 
Quina led all players with 25 assists. Grimes tallied up the most kills with 12 while Stephanie Renner swinging for seven kills.
 
Maraia Tremarelli sprawled for 10 digs to lead the team, with Quina adding nine pick-ups and Leah Washbun snagging eight digs.
 
The Lynx will be back on the hardwood Saturday Sept. 28 for the second SAA contest of the weekend when they face Oglethorpe at noon.
